CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau)
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is a U.S. government agency established in 2011 to protect consumers in the financial marketplace. In mortgage lending, the CFPB enforces rules requiring lenders to provide Loan Estimates and Closing Disclosures, prohibits unfair lending practices, and oversees the TRID (TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure) rules that govern mortgage disclosures.
