HELOC Repayment Period

Mike Starr·Reviewed August 2026

The HELOC repayment period is the phase after the draw period during which the borrower can no longer access new funds and must repay the outstanding balance through fixed monthly payments of principal and interest. Repayment periods typically last 10 to 20 years. Monthly payments increase significantly compared to the interest-only draw period.
