Loan Servicer

Mike Starr·Reviewed August 2026

A loan servicer is a company responsible for managing a mortgage after it is originated — collecting monthly payments, managing the escrow account, handling customer service, and processing payoff requests. The servicer may be the original lender or a separate company the loan was sold to. Borrowers are notified when their loan is transferred to a new servicer.
